A Creston man has pled guilty to child pornography charges in Cranbrook court.
Jesse Wood, 44, appeared before the Cranbrook court on August 7, where he reportedly pled guilty to possessing and distributing child pornography.
According to the B.C. Prosecution Service, the offences allegedly occurred in Creston on January 30, 2023.
Wood failed to appear for several scheduled court dates last year, which led the RCMP to request assistance in searching for him.
On October 23, 2024, he was apprehended and arrested in Kelowna but was later released after his court appearance.
He missed another court appearance in early November, prompting the RCMP to seek help once again.
After months on the run, Wood was arrested in Calgary, where the search had expanded beyond the border.
Following a three-day bail hearing, he was denied bail and has remained in custody since April 2025.
Wood is scheduled to return to court on August 26 to set a date for sentencing.
A pre-sentence report has been requested along with a psychological evaluation.
Although originally charged with five counts related to child pornography, three of those charges are expected to stay during sentencing.
One of the remaining charges carries a mandatory minimum sentence of one year in prison and a maximum sentence of 14 years.
The other charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
