Key City residents may not have to worry about flying within the Interior region for much longer.
Pacific Coastal Airlines has now announced a new non-stop service between Kelowna (YLW) and Cranbrook (YXC) starting Monday, October 27.
“It’s fantastic to once again offer non-stop service between Kelowna and Cranbrook, with our new schedule offering preferred morning and afternoon time of day flights,” said Johnathan Richardson, vice president of commercial at the airline.
“This new service not only strengthens regional air access in the Okanagan but also enables efficient one-stop travel between the Kootenays and Vancouver Island.”
The daily route will use a 19-passenger Beechcraft 1900 plane.
Flights departing from the Canadian Rockies International Airport are scheduled to take off at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Sunday through Friday, with departures at 11 a.m. on Saturdays.
Travellers going from Kelowna to YXC depart at 5:35 p.m. on Sundays through Fridays, and at 3:40 p.m. on Saturdays.
“This additional daily service will offer visitors and residents a great linkage of air service from the interior of BC to the Kootenay Rockies region,” said Kootenay Rockies Tourism Association CEO Kathy Cooper.
“[M]ore connection options such as this are vital to areas that have smaller regional airports that struggle to provide robust flight schedule services,” she added.
Pacific Coastal is a privately-owned B.C.-based airline operating from the Vancouver International Airport, serving 20 destinations across the province.
