The aquatic centre at Western Financial Place will keep its regular hours after testing shorter days aimed at cutting costs.
The trial ran from March 31 to June 7, following direction from a public survey.
The trial was based on feedback from the 2025 Budget Citizen Survey, where residents were asked how the city might cut costs.
City staff say the reduced hours saved about $14,000, mostly from lower staffing costs.
But many residents reportedly said the changes made the pool less accessible and hurt their ability to use it.
“We did see some financial savings, but it is clear there was a negative impact to our users,” said Mayor Wayne Price.
“We are listening, which is why council asked staff to keep the pool hours unchanged going forward.”
While full-day hours will remain, city staff will use dynamic zone closures to improve efficiency.
This means certain parts of the pool may be closed at times based on how busy it is, scheduled programs, and staff levels.
The city also plans to adjust the pool’s schedule aimed at reducing crowding and improving lane swim times.
Staff say these changes aim to keep service levels high while managing costs.
