The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has officially cut the ribbon on a new campground located between Cranbrook and Kimberley– after more than two years of development in the project pipeline.
Elected officials, RDEK staff and contractors welcomed the new Wycliffe Park Campground on Wednesday (July 23). The 164-hectare park now features a 20-site campground, in addition to other existing amenities, including hiking trails, horseshoe pits, ball diamonds, and picnic areas.
“This campground has been created to continue offering an exceptional recreational experience to the public, provide more local camping options, and enhance local offerings,” wrote the RDEK.
Funding applications for the 20-site campground were approved in January 2023, with the B.C. government approving the $518,223 grant in April 2024.
The park, located at 1200 Perry Creek Road, is set to be open from mid-May to September each year. Bookings are available online through the Regional District’s website.
