A local athlete has recently received recognition after dedicating decades of hard work to Special Olympics BC (SOBC).
From soccer and bowling to alpine skiing and golfing, Cranbrook resident Erin Thom has done it all. Thom has been competing in all alpine skiing regional and provincial games since 1994, earning national and world medals multiple times from 1997 to 2023.
She now joins Abbotsford coach Donna Bilous in this year’s Hall of Fame induction.
“The Special Olympics movement in our province is so fortunate to be enriched by the involvement of Erin Thom and Donna Bilous,” said SOBC President & CEO Dan Howe.
“Their incredible skills have inspired countless others, and their leadership and example have made a lasting difference.”
Thom is also known as an active community leader through various fundraising initiatives and awareness campaigns.
SOBC awarded the new inductees at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Games on July 12.
