Tim Hortons Camp Day is returning Wednesday, July 16, with proceeds from all hot and iced coffee sales supporting Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.
The initiative funds summer camp experiences for underserved youth across Canada.
In Cranbrook, both Tim Hortons locations are aiming to raise $9,000 this year to help send local youth to camp.
“All the funds raised go to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, so that allows local youth to go to camp throughout the summer and have a life-changing experience,” said Scott Seitz, General Manager of Tim Hortons Cranbrook.
Seitz says Camp Day consistently receives strong support in the community.
In addition to coffee purchases, staff and volunteers host a barbecue at one of the local locations to help boost donations.
“The community is absolutely amazing,” he said.
“They come out, buy a coffee, buy one for a friend, even attend our barbecue in Cranbrook. They show up in every way.”
He says he’s spoken with young people who have returned from camp, noting the lasting impression it leaves.
“Hearing from the kids after they return, it’s absolutely amazing,” Seitz said.
Tim Hortons Foundation Camps provide sessions focused on leadership and life skills, with camp sessions offered at no cost to families.
The foundation prioritizes youth facing barriers including low income, social isolation, and limited access to support systems.
Camp Day has been held annually since 1987.
Last year, it raised $12.8 million nationwide, bringing the total amount raised over the past three decades to more than $262 million.
While July 16 is the official Camp Day, donations are accepted year-round.
Customers can choose to round up their orders in-store or donate directly through the foundation’s website.
