Construction season is now in full swing in Fernie as the City kicks off a part of its annual roads program today (Jul. 2).
This year, city contractor Okanagan Aggregates Ltd. will be redeveloping roadways in the Alpine/Parkland Neighbourhood, Cedar Avenue and Canyon Trail. The project will include a range of upgrades, including new pavements and gutters, as well as an extension of the multi-use pathway from Highway 3 to Bossio Road.

The new extension of the multi-use pathway on Cedar Avenue will be separated from the road by a boulevard, providing off-road snow storage and keeping vehicles away from pathway users. | City of Fernie
“Traffic delays are expected to be minimal,” wrote the City of Fernie. “Please respect all detour signage and give the crew space to safely do their work.”
Residents can expect single-lane alternating traffic in the construction zone.
