Construction will begin next week on a major upgrade to the Rotary Park playground in Kimberley.
The City of Kimberley and the Rotary Club of Kimberley announced that work will begin July 2 to replace aging equipment with new infrastructure aimed at being more accessible and meeting modern safety standards.
The project is funded through community donations and local fundraising efforts.
“This project is a testament to the power of community,” said Sandra Roberts, spokesperson for the Rotary Club of Kimberley.
“The Rotary Club is incredibly proud to invest in a space that brings joy, activity and connection to local families.”
The playground area will be closed during construction, but the splash park, washrooms and ball field at Rotary Park will remain open.
“We recognize the importance of Rotary Park to the community and will work to minimize disruption,” the City of Kimberley said in a statement.
Families are encouraged to use other public playgrounds in the city during the closure, including those in Marysville, Townsite, local schools and at the Swan Avenue adventure park.
City officials say updates on the project will be provided as work progresses.
