The District of Sparwood has released details on its upcoming community events, facility updates and summer recreation programs.
Canada Day celebrations will take place Tuesday, July 1 at Centennial Plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will include live music, family-friendly activities, and a free barbecue.
A public swim will be offered the same day at the Leisure Centre pool from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The District confirmed the main leisure pool is scheduled to reopen June 30 following recent repairs.
However, ongoing maintenance means the hot tub will remain closed until further notice.
Youth recreation programs are also set to resume for the summer.
The Swim Squad program for children ages eight to 11 will run in two sessions: July 15 to 31 and August 5 to 21.
Sports camps focusing on foundational skills and aquatic training courses, including Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross, will also be available through July and August.
The Sparwood Market will continue to run every Friday throughout the summer from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Titan Park, with local produce, food vendors, and crafts.
The District is currently updating its zoning and parking bylaws, and residents are being encouraged to complete an online survey before July 31.
Feedback collected aims to shape future bylaw changes.
As part of emergency preparedness efforts, Sparwood is also reminding residents who may be at increased risk during emergencies to register with the District’s Vulnerable Person Registry, which aims to assist first responders in supporting residents who require extra help during emergencies.
Further details on all programs and services are available at sparwood.ca.
