The Invermere Health Care Auxiliary Society has donated more than $85,000 to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health to support equipment upgrades at Invermere and District Hospital and Columbia House.
The funds were raised through the auxiliary’s Main Street thrift store and will go toward several pieces of equipment identified by staff, including a Lucas 3 chest compression system.
The system provides mechanical CPR during transport, an update for rural emergency care.
Other purchases include cardiac and blood pressure monitors, a blanket warmer, a new mattress, and wheelchair cushion replacements.
Columbia House will receive four recliners to offer long-term care residents more comfortable seating options in shared spaces.
The auxiliary has now contributed over $1.8 million to health care initiatives in Invermere and across the region.
