A beloved Kimberley landmark is getting a much-needed facelift this summer as the City continues its work with the Cominco Gardens Rejuvenation Project.
Starting Friday, June 20, the Gardens will be closed to the public for the second phase of construction. The work builds on phase one last summer, which included washroom and tea house makeovers. Some key upgrades in this upcoming phase include:
- Reconstructing pathways, stairs, and railings
- Repairing retaining walls and enhancing safety and accessibility
- Planting new garden beds and installing fencing to keep out wildlife
- Installing modern irrigation systems and signage
- Replacing picnic tables and benches
“We understand how important Cominco Gardens is to our community,” said Dean Prediger, manager of Parks and Facilities. “This project is about preserving its legacy while making it more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”
More information and updates will be available through the City of Kimberley’s Major Capital Projects Storymap.
Work is expected to be complete by Labour Day weekend.
