More than 130 projects across British Columbia will receive up to $43 million through the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP), aimed at strengthening rural and Indigenous economies, creating jobs, and supporting sustainable development.
Minister of Jobs, Diana Gibson says, “We’re partnering with rural community leaders to invest in the future of their local economies”.
The funding is expected to create about 2,200 jobs across rural B.C.
Projects include the expansion of the Sea to Sky Outdoor Adventure Recreation Enterprise (SOARE), which will upgrade its innovation centre to support outdoor businesses, and a skills-training centre in northern B.C. led by the Indigenous Food Sovereignty Association aimed at building clean job opportunities and food system resilience.
Another initiative, Communities Talking, will blend Indigenous and western economic data practices to help rural and Indigenous communities plan for future growth.
Since its launch, REDIP has supported 453 projects with $142 million in funding, aiming to create 7,000 jobs.
The next intake is expected in July 2025.
