Drivers in the Kootenays are being advised to watch for changing weather and road conditions as a cool airmass brings the risk of snow to interior highway passes.
Environment Canada says snowfall is possible today over Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass, with accumulations ranging from a trace to five centimetres. Wet snow may taper off by this afternoon, but conditions could vary with elevation.
Other routes, including Highway 3 via Allison Pass, and sections of the Coquihalla Highway, may also see light snow, especially near the 1,200-metre elevation mark.
Officials urge caution when travelling through mountain passes.
Drivers should be prepared for sudden changes in weather, reduce speed, and maintain a safe following distance.
