The Cranbrook Community Theatre (CCT) invites residents to gather for its showing of The Cemetery Club, a show where laughter and loss walk hand-in-hand.
Written by Ivan Menchell and directed by Patrick Baranowski, the show is a touching and timeless comedy following three spirited widows, Ida, Lucille and Doris, who meet monthly for tea before heading to the cemetery to visit their late husbands.
When Sam, a warm-hearted widower and local butcher, begins to visit the same graveyard, these old routines get disrupted and new opportunities emerge.
Friendship, grief and romance collide as the women navigate loyalty, guilt and the courage it takes to start again.
The show runs Apr. 25-27, plus May 1-4 and 8-10. Evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees starting at 2 p.m. Showings take place at the Studio Stage Door (11 11 Avenue South).
Michelle McCue stars as the sweet, open-hearted Ida; Brenda Burley takes on Lucille’s fiery and fun-loving personality; Jennifer Inglis acts as the fiercely opinionated Doris; Michael Grossman is the gentle and endearing Sam; and Leslie Molnar makes her CCT debut as Mildred.
This season marks 60 years of CCT acting as a cultural cornerstone in the Kootenays and 50 years as steward of the historic Studio Stage Doors.
Tickets are available online now.
