The Columbia Basin Trust has revamped its Climate Source website, “with the Basin’s unique needs in mind.”
According to Basin Trust Director, Will Nixon, “residents have expressed a strong desire for clear, locally relevant information to help them understand the impacts of climate change and what they can do to build resilience in their communities.”
After being originally launched in 2019, the site presented data through maps, now it is organized into three categories:
-
Understand local impacts: Learn how climate change is affecting the environment, economy and communities across the Basin, including detailed climate projections for specific areas.
-
Learn what you can do: Find practical, actionable ways individuals and households can reduce emissions, conserve resources and support local resilience.
-
Explore local solutions: Discover community-led projects and initiatives underway across the Basin, from clean energy solutions to climate adaptation efforts.
Selkirk Innovates redeveloped the site, with Project Manager and Lead Researcher at Selkirk College, Lauren Rethoret saying the goal was to make, “users feel empowered with the knowledge they need to reduce emissions, adapt to climate change, and work together to build a more resilient region.”
