Riders are now being urged to stay safe as up to 100 e-scooters roll down Key City for the second year starting in April.
Bird Canada has launched e-scooters across community hotspots like Downtown Cranbrook and Rotary Park, and the City of Cranbrook has issued a set of rules to follow when using them, such as:
- No sidewalks. Travel in bike lanes or roads only.
- Wear a helmet.
- No double-riders– only one person per scooter.
- Watch for pedestrians and cars.
- Obey all local safety and traffic laws.
Users must also use a bike lane or stay as far to the right as possible. Riders can only use a bike lane if the road speed limit is above 50 km/h.
More information is available on the City of Cranbrook’s website.
E-scooters are set to be available until November 2025, weather permitting.
