Drivers who are planning to go through the mountains may find themselves on rockier roads until Friday (Mar. 21).
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for significant snow accumulation on Highway 3 through the Kootenay Pass to Paulson Summit.
The snow could fall over high-elevation highway passes from Thursday night through Friday due to a Pacific frontal system impacting southern B.C.
Snow levels will be sufficiently low through this period, which could create challenging driving conditions in some of the heavier bands of snow.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly and create unexpected hazards,” wrote the environment agency.
Road conditions are available on the DriveBC website.
