WildsafeBC’s Kimberley-Cranbrook branch is reminding you to watch out for elk when driving between Cranbrook and Marysville.
Elk are known to frequent near Highway 95A this time of year and you’re asked to be careful for them while driving, particularly around dawn or dusk when they are harder to see.
The local wildlife group advises that elk are not tame or habituated to traffic and people, and they can be quite dangerous.
The animals don’t have a tolerance of humans getting to close to them, and they will let you know by turning their ears back, grinding their teeth and lasing out with their hooves.
