The Association of Interior Realtors is out with its monthly real estate figures for December, including for the Kootenays.
According to figures released Monday, there were 716 residential units sold region-wide last month, down somewhat from November’s 994.
It was tempered, however, with an almost eight percent rise in new residential listings when compared to December of 2023 – 928, in total, last month.
Association president and Cranbrook realtor Kaytee Sharun says, overall, sales in the last month of 2024 reflected the type of activity usually seen at this time of year.
She added it’s generally one of the slower months, given the holidays.
In the Kootenays & Boundary, unit sales increased by 11.9% in December versus the same month in 2023 and rose 29 percent in new December listings when compared to the same month a year earlier.
