The investigation by RCMP into last week’s school fire at Cranbrook’s Amy Woodland Elementary continues.
The school’s principal Scott Holt, meantime, posted an open letter to parents and guardians on Facebook Saturday morning, saying the building is currently undergoing various inspections to assess the damage.
He continued, given the extent of the damage and current trade shortages, they’re not anticipating that Amy Woodland Elementary will be operational during the 2024/25 school year.
Holt, in his posting, added plans are being implemented to relocate classroom cohorts, compromising students, teachers, and support staff to learning spaces in other schools in Cranbrook.
That would, although those plans would still need to be worked out, bussing Amy Woodland students to other facilities throughout the city.
