The City of Cranbrook is taking a big step in its Child Care Action Plan.
City Council, last night, unanimously choosing a location for a proposed 123-space childcare facility at Gyro Park on 8th Street South.
However, Councillor Ron Popoff, although supporting the site, wondered if it made sense to have one big location rather than several smaller ones…
Consultant Maria Stanborough, with Cover Architecture, explained to council the reasoning for the sole location concept…
Six choices were presented as options for a new childcare facility.
Besides Gyro Park, the five were: Pop Price Park, the Quad ball diamonds, 600 30th Avenue South in the Highlands neighbourhood, Mount Baker RV campground, and Moir Park North in the industrial section.
With a location now agreed to, the next step is to apply for funding through the Child Care BC New Spaces initiative.
