Local mining giant Teck is celebrating a housing project in Sparwood which will boost availability for low-to-moderate income families and seniors.
Teck’s $100,000 contribution to the Timbers Landing Mixed Income Housing Project supported construction of the four-storey building in Sparwood.
A statement from the company says the building includes 30 new one, two and three bedroom units.
These units are intended to remain affordable in perpetuity and the building is powered by low-carbon electric systems.
The project is a partnership between the District of Sparwood, Teck, Columbia Basin Trust and several other local stakeholders.
