Expect to see a major increase in bike traffic on East Kootenay highways this weekend.
The 8th Annual Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo gets underway on Saturday, with over 400 cyclists expected to take part this year.
There are three courses for cyclists in the event, with the Gran Fondo starting at 9:30 a.m., the Medio Fondo starting at 9:45 a.m. and the Piccolo Fondo going at 10:00 a.m.
Drivers can expect to see increased bike traffic throughout the day in the areas of the ?Aq’am community, St Eugene Resort, Cranbrook, Wycliffe, Kimberley, Wasa and Fort Steele.
All funds raised through the event support local projects organized by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club.
