Cranbrook City Council is endorsing new enhancements to Cranbrook’s transit system following a presentation from BC Transit earlier this week.
One highlight from government relations manager Daynika White’s presentation to city council was the NEXTride app, a digital service to track bus locations.
“From a customer facing perspective, customers can use the transit app, they get to see real time bus locations along routes and predicted arrival times at any stops,” White says. “A lot of people are familiar with this, it’s the same kind of technology that is used with apps like Uber and other ride sharing technologies.”
White says another initiative is an updated service schedule starting September 5.
“It will mean reliable and safe transit service for customers, buses will be on time without the drivers having to speed or rush,” she says. “Which translates to better customer service, especially for riders with mobility challenges that might need additional time to board the bus or get settled in their seat.”
Other enhancements include developing a future service plan and a new digital payment option.
