The City of Cranbrook is continuing a long standing agreement with the local Search and Rescue service.
Cranbrook City Council renewed the use of rescue vehicles agreement between the City and the Cranbrook & District Search & Rescue Society.
Mayor Wayne Price called the SAR team an invaluable service.
“We’ve had some kind of agreement with them for years, I know back in my early days when I was a [fire] Chief we used to service their vehicles over at the City shops and what not,” Price says. “They’re a non-profit organization you know? Dollars are tough.”
Price says the SAR team is a non-profit they are always willing to support.
“What they pay for fleet insurance on the City’s fleet is probably what they’d pay for just a couple of vehicles, rather then their full fleet,” says Price. “It’s minor for the City, but it means a lot to them, certainly using the money they do get for the best purposes.”
The agreement between SAR and the City dates back to 1994
