The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies has announced the recipients of its 2023 community granting program.
This year CFKR had a record breaking $131,130 available to grant.
Executive Director Lynnette Wray says over $98,000 is alloted for 49 community initiatives while over $32,000 was re-invested into 16 endowment funds.
“I’m just so impressed with all of the work that’s going on in our communities through these many non-profits,” Wray says. “All of these initiatives really enhance our communities, add fun, add physical activities, education. Just so many wonderful contributions.”
Wray says this year’s grants include the inaugural Addressing Homelessness Fund, Over $6,000 to support ANKORS, Street Angels, and the Cranbrook Food Bank.
“These were from the funds raised 10-15 years ago, there was community fundraising around a proposed homeless shelter located at the Salvation Army site,” She says. “Those funds now are going to grant out to our community every year forever to support non-profit agencies like Ankors, Street Angels and Cranbrook Food Bank.”
