Columbia Basin Trust provided $76.1 million to support Basin communities, according to report.
The City of Cranbrook has submitted it’s recommendations for the Columbia Basin Trust’s Resident Directed Grants.
The ReDi grants are delivered in partnership with local governments and First Nations to support projects that benefit the community and public.
Councillor Lynnette Wray says over $326,000 will be allocated to thirty-five non-profit organizations in Cranbrook following approval from the Regional District of East Kootenay.
“Requests outweighed the available funding, so of course that makes for more difficult decision making,” says Wray. “But it’s really amazing to see all the work that’s going on in our communities. It’s really what help makes our communities such a great place to live, because there’s such a wide variety of projects and activities underway.”
Wray says the largest local grant is $40,000 dollars for Cranbrook Rotary Club’s trails network at Moir Park.
“It’s a really accessible trail, it’s wide, it’s paved, so it’s great for whatever level of abilities, however people are mobile,” she says. “Moir Park is so beautiful. This will give folks some additional trails to enjoy up at Moir and really enjoy that part of our city.”
