Amplify East Kootenay is shining a spotlight on local businesses for 2023.
Today, we look at Moonlight Flowers and Boutique in Sparwood.

Moonlight Flowers and Boutique in Sparwood specializes as a gift and consignment boutique while offering wedding floral services.
Owner Desiree Markewich says she started the business due to her love of flowers and gardening.
“My floral journey started with the gardening side, rather than the florestry side,” Markewich says. “I got to learn a lot of the flower names and how they grow. That’s reflected a lot in my florestry, I’d say.”
Markewich makes a point of carrying products from small, local businesses and also started farming her own flowers in 2022 in an effort to grow that portion of her business in the coming year.
She feels farming her own flowers will have many benefits, including a better environmental impact and a larger variety of fresher flowers available.
Markewich says Moonlight Flowers covers a variety of services under one roof.
“I also have an assignment clothing shop in my store as well and the back half of my store is my fiancee’s tattoo studio,” Markewich says. “I actually do help him with some of the tattoo design, so I kind of have a lot going on in my small store here in Sparwood.”
Moonlight Flowers and Boutique is located at 106 Centennial Street in Sparwood.
