Cranbrook’s law enforcement agencies are taking the plunge this weekend.
The Cranbrook Sheriff’s office and Cranbrook RCMP are teaming up to raise funds for Special Olympians by jumping into an ice filled tub for their polar plunge challenge.
Constable Katie Forgeron says members of both agencies, Cranbrook firefighters and local Special Olympians will be taking a dip for the fundraiser.
“Mr. Mike’s is going to be there and they’re going to have hamburgers there by donation,” Forgeron says. “If you feel the need to donate we would certainly appreciate it and you can come down and we’ll have boxes and stuff available for any donations that people might want to make.”
Forgeron says all proceeds will be donated to the local Special Olympians.
“We’ve got some Special Olympians that are going to show up, hopefully they’ll bring their medals so we can show off with them and see what their medals look like,” she says.” We’re looking for a really good turnout this year. We’re happy to support the Special Olympians and happy to support the BC Sheriffs in hosting this event.”
It’s happening at the Tamarack Centre parking lot from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm Saturday.

The Cranbrook office of the BC Sheriff’s Service is about to get cold. Ice cold.
On Saturday, February 25th, 2023, the Sheriff’s are spearheading a polar plunge to raise funds and awareness for our Special Olympians.
Like last year, the event will be held at the Tamarack Centre parking lot from noon until 4 P.M. when officers from the Cranbrook Sheriffs office, the RCMP, Cranbrook firefighters and local Special Olympians will take the plunge into an ice filled tub.
Mr. Mike’s will be in attendance serving up burgers where all money raised will be donated to the Special Olympians, who just returned from the Winter Games in Kamloops.
“We are excited to participate in this great event that the Sheriff’s have organized,“ says Cst Katie Forgeron. “It was a great turnout last year and we are hoping for an even bigger crowd this time around.”
