
Kimberley Search and Rescue and BC Adventure Smart are urging area residents to be prepared if you plan to head into the backcountry.
SAR managers warn that cold temperatures will put you and your group at risk for hypothermia and can worsen any health condition.
BC Adventure Smart is also reminding residents that you should pack any provisions that could be needed to get through a night in the backcountry, in case of an emergency.
Some of the needed items includes flashlights, a fire making kit, a whistle or mirror to signal rescue crews and extra food and water.
