Interior Health says outbreak precautions remain active at a pair of long term care facilities in Cranbrook and Kimberley.
A COVID-19 outbreak was declared December 30 at Cranbrook’s Joseph Creek Care Village, there are 24 active cases linked to this outbreak as of Monday, January 9.
Also on December 30, a COVID-19 and Influenza outbreak was declared at Kimberley Special Care, this outbreak has resulted in one death while 17 cases are active as of Monday.
Some of the outbreak precautions being used at these facilities include restrictions on visitors and enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures.

The outbreaks list is updated when new outbreaks are declared in a facility. Outbreaks are listed for the following types of infections and illnesses:
- COVID-19
- Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI)
- Gastrointestinal Illness (GI)
- Respiratory Infection (RI)
When an outbreak is over, the facility is removed from the list.
The list includes all hospitals and long-term care facilities within IH that either fall under the Hospital Act or are licensed under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
