College of the Rockies is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a community open house at the Cranbrook campus on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
This year at the College of the Rockies has been all about getting back to normal.
2022 was a return to form for the local college, as COVID-19 restrictions were largely lifted and students began returning to classes.
COTR President Paul Vogt is happy to see students returning en masse to their facilities throughout the East Kootenay, with this year seeing the largest convocation ceremony in the college’s history.
He adds while its been great to see students return to their facilities, its created a challenge for some students adjusting to life after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vogt says they’ve also seen additional programs added to the mix this year in technology, trades and remote learning, while nursing and ECE programs were expanded.
He adds dual credit programs were also introduced with high schools in the region to get students started early in social services and health care careers.
