The Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot has hit a significant milestone.
Its been four years since the Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot first opened their doors.
The service has been operating since November 2018 and has diverted over 305,000 pounds of food from local landfills in that time.
Healthy Kimberley organizers say the first year of the program saw an average of 2,850 pounds of food kept out of landfills each month.
Since then, the program now goes through on average 10,000 pounds of food a month.
Organizers are thanking all volunteers, businesses and patrons who have supported the service for the past four years.
