A film festival which features outdoor winter sports is coming to Kimberley.
The Kootenay Outdoor Recreation Enterprise (KORE) Initiative is bringing the 18th Backcountry Film Festival to Centre 64 next week to support local environmental group Wildsight
KORE board chair Matt Mosteller says the festival features documentaries on the spirt of winter and outdoor athletics.
“Adventure, environment, climate, youth outdoors, and ski culture, it’s an award winning film series” says Mosteller. “It’s put on by the Winter Wildlands Alliance in the US and we’re bringing the films to Kimberley. We’re really excited.”
Mosteller says 100% of the proceeds from the show will support local environmental group Wildsight.
“Doors open at 5:30 pm on December 2nd,” he says. “We’ve got Wildsight’s conservation specialist Eddie Petryshen, who’s going to be our featured speaker and will give a quick update on the work that Wildsight is doing and also showing his passion for backcountry skiing.”
The festival is happening at Centre 64 in Kimberley December 2 at 5:30 pm.
