The search is on for the participants in the 2023 Sweetheart Youth Ambassador Program.
The annual program has been operating in Cranbrook for over 55 years.
Organizer Karin Penner says the program teaches young woman in grades 10 and 11 skills ranging from public speaking to financial management.
“We’re also very, very big on being part of the community and working out in the community,” says Penner. “Because we think that volunteering is the back bone of this community.”
Penner says the program has essentially started over after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It was a challenging year but as I said, the candidates we had last year made it very easy,” she says. “We will continue to rebuild on that again in this next year.”
Potential candidates can learn more about the program at an information session happening at the Regional District of East Kootenay building at 7:00 pm November 28.
