David Wilks has once again thrown his hat into Sparwood’s mayoral race.
Wilks has extensive history with Municipal Politics, being first elected to council in 2002 and serving as Mayor from 2005-2011 and from 2018-2022.
He also served as the region’s MP federally from 2011-2015.
Wilks is proud of what District Council has accomplished in the last term.
“Centennial Square and Red Cedar Hill, we were able to pass a bylaw for chickens in backyards, we were able to get a community garden done and do some crosswalks that people wanted,” Wilks says. “The small things people don’t really remember much, but they’re big things when listening to the public.”
He says he still enjoys being apart of municipal politics and finds it very rewarding.
“Its still fun. That’s the main thing,” Wilks says. “This Mayor and Council got lots of stuff done in the last four years. I think there’s still more to do and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Municipal Election is set for October 15.
