The City of Fernie is making an upgrade to how they count ballots for this year’s election.
The city is switching to automated vote counting machines for the municipal election.
Voters will mark a paper ballot and have the option to feed their ballot into the machine themselves or have an election worker do it for them.
City staff say vote counting machines will significantly reduce the wait time to learn election results.
