Teck Resources announced a plant outage in the Elk Valley could cause production interruptions for up to two months.
Teck announced Tuesday a structural failure of the plant feed conveyor belt at its Elkview steelmaking coal operation.
Their initial estimate is that production at the Elkview operations will be interrupted for up to two months as repairs are implemented.
Teck reports that Elkview will reschedule planned plant maintenance to take advantage of plant downtime and mine operations will focus on pre-stripping during the outage.
A two month suspension of plant operations could impact 2022 steelmaking coal production in the range of 1.5 million tonnes.
