A three term Kimberley city councilor will not be seeking re-election in October.
Kimberley councilor Kent Goodwin announced during Monday night’s city council meeting that he would not run for office in this year’s Municipal Election.
Goodwin feels three terms was enough in the role and he has another project that he’s looking to spend more time on called the Aspen Proposal.
“If we don’t start thinking a little more long-term about the future of humanity, there may not be a long-term future for humanity,” Goodwin says. “So we put our heads together, got a bunch of people to give us some feedback and put together a very brief document that describes a world 200-500 years from now.”
Goodwin feels its important to have a diverse group of city councilors who respect each others opinions.
He felt there has been much discussion on important issues in Kimberley during his time in office, but he’s ready for a change to new projects.
