Fernie City Council is not moving ahead with plans to invest in a temporary sani-dump location in the city.
City council decided at their last meeting not to go ahead with a 422 thousand dollar investment into a temporary sani-dump on 13th Street and Railway Avenue.
City councilors were against spending so much on a temporary location, considering this summer’s camping season was nearly over.
Councilor Phil Iddon would like to see time taken to organize a proper solution to this issue.
Fernie’s municipal sani-dump was closed at the end of summer in 2021 after renovations were made at Fernie’s Visitor Information Centre parking lot.
Sani dump users are still able to use the site available at the Fernie RV Park or at other locations outside of Fernie.
