The BC SPCA is warning BC residents not to leave their pets in vehicles as the heat wave continues.
The society warns that temperatures in a parked car can rapidly reach a level high enough to seriously harm or even kill your pet.
They encourage anyone who sees a dog that may be in trouble in a parked vehicle to record the information about the car, ask a nearby store to page customers or to call your municipal animal control authorities for support.
Environment Canada had been warning residents across much of BC of high heat over the past few days, with temperatures expected to cool down by the middle of the week.
