The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) has announced its Eddie Mountain Division award winners ahead of the playoffs.
Each year, the league recognizes division leaders in eight categories, with overall league award winners to be announced later.
Here are some local award winners this year:
Most Valuable Player
Luke Davies — Kimberley Dynamiters
Davies recorded 25 goals and 33 assists for 58 points in 36 games, averaging 1.61 points per game.
He finished plus-52, added 25 power-play points and three game-winners.
Top Scorer
Luke Davies — Kimberley Dynamiters
Hayden Iron Shirt — Golden Rockets
Both finished with 58 points.
Davies had 25 goals and 33 assists in 36 games.
Iron Shirt posted 22 goals and 36 assists in 40 games.
Top Defenceman
Jackson Murphy — Kimberley Dynamiters
Murphy tallied six goals and 40 assists for 46 points in 43 games, ranking third among league defencemen.
He averaged more than 21 minutes per game and was plus-52.
Top Goaltender
Leo den Besten — Fernie Ghostriders
Den Besten led the league with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage, posting a 16-5-1 record with three shutouts.
Rookie of the Year
Hayden Iron Shirt — Golden Rockets
Iron Shirt recorded 57 points in 40 games, including 35 assists to lead all rookies.
Most Sportsmanlike Player
Peter Godley — Columbia Valley Rockies
Godley led the Rockies with 51 points while taking just eight penalty minutes in 42 games.
Coach of the Year
Jed Houseman — Golden Rockets
Houseman guided the Rockets to a 23-18-3 record and a third-place finish in the division.
General Manager of the Year
Derek Stuart — Kimberley Dynamiters
Stuart built a Dynamiters squad that went 31-9-2-2, scoring 201 goals and allowing 121.
