As recreation on Lake Windermere transitions from paddleboards and kayaks to ice skates and fishing shacks, the District of Invermere is cautioning the public.
The District is asking residents to stay off the ice at this time, as conditions are not yet safe.
The public is also being urged to follow the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club Facebook page for updates on ice and trail conditions.
The District adds that ice thickness can vary significantly across a lake, and that no ice is ever completely safe, even when conditions appear safe.
