Fernie has welcomed a new youth councillor for this year’s term.
Pari Parmar is a Grade 12 student at Fernie Secondary School and has previously attended The Fernie Academy.
She is also a Youth Rep for the Elk Valley Rugby Club, a member of the Youth Leadership Advisory Committee and a lifeguard.
“Pari has a strong interest in leadership and community volunteering, and she wants to learn more about municipal government,” said the City. “During her term as Youth Councillor, Pari hopes to give back to her community, especially the youth population.”
Youth Councillors are year-long volunteers representing young people in Council matters and operations.
Her first meeting was at the Council meeting on Wednesday, November 12.
