The East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) announced $150,000 in funding from the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary Society to support health care projects across the region.
EKFH says the donation will fund multiple projects, including $5,000 for new furniture at the Pines Care Home in Kimberley, $15,000 for updated equipment at the Kimberley Health Centre, and $65,000 toward a new hospice home in partnership with the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society.
The remaining $65,000 will go toward the expansion of JoeAnna’s House in Kelowna.
JoeAnna’s House provides temporary accommodations for families of patients receiving health care in Kelowna.
EKFH Executive Director Brenna Hong expressed, “I am so grateful for our wonderful partnership with the KHCAS. They are truly one of the hardest-working and most dedicated organizations in our region — having four different projects funded through their efforts will make a tremendous difference in health care for so many people across our communities.”
The Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary is a volunteer-run organization with about 140 members operating two thrift stores and a medical equipment loan cupboard.
Over the past 15 years, the group has reportedly donated nearly $1.2 million to EKFH for health care improvements.
