Santa’s stuffing stockings and spreading Christmas cheer in Cranbrook this year.
JCI Kootenay is hosting its 54th annual Santa Claus parade in support of the Cranbrook Food Bank.
“We all know that food has the incredible power to bring people together, and during the holidays, having a special meal shouldn’t be at the bottom of anyone’s list,” said Food Bank Executive Director Julie Rose.
“Through the Reverse Advent Calendar and Toonie Drive, we’re inviting everyone to join us in spreading warmth, kindness, and nourishment to our neighbours this holiday season.”
The Reverse Advent Calendar features a much-needed item at the Food Bank leading up to the parade, and residents are encouraged to drop off the items on the list at the Cranbrook Visitor Information Centre from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

JCI Kootenay’s second initiative has volunteers carrying decorated buckets on parade day to collect loonies—or toonies—for the Loonie Drive.
“Fundraisers like this help ensure we can make everyone’s seasons bright all year long. Thank you, Cranbrook, and JCI, for your continued support of our mission of a hunger-free Cranbrook. We truly are by community, for community.”
The parade starts at Baker Street and 8th Avenue South, travelling along Baker and 12th before looping back up 1st Street South to Rotary Park. It’s set to kick off at 5:30 p.m. on November 29.
