A grizzly bear involved in a recent mauling near Fort Steele has been confirmed dead, according to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service.
Officers say the bear was recently found near the site of the incident.
DNA testing confirmed it was the same bear involved.
The incident happened earlier this month while the victim was elk hunting in a remote area near Fort Steele.
The victim reportedly remains in hospital and is still recovering.
Conservation officers thanked the public for their support during the response.
