A new regional event is being held to encourage discussion on economic challenges affecting communities, businesses, and individuals throughout the East Kootenay.
The event, Level Up: Economic Resilience in Turbulent Times, will take place on October 1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the College of the Rockies’ Cranbrook campus.
The forum is being organized in partnership by College of the Rockies, Community Futures East Kootenay, and Kootenay Savings Credit Union.
Organizers say the forum is a response to growing concerns over issues such as global trade uncertainty, shifting technologies, workforce shortages, and productivity pressure.
The evening will feature a keynote presentation by Mike Stolte, an economist and President of the Centre for Innovative and Entrepreneurial Leadership.
Stolte is known for developing community assessment tools used across Canada and will reportedly share recent insights into economic trends in the East Kootenay.
Following the keynote, a panel of local officials will reportedly discuss strategies for economic development.
Scheduled panelists include:
-
Michael Crowe, College of the Rockies
-
Robyn Peel, Community Futures East Kootenay
-
Michael Hoher, Export Navigator
-
A representative from Kootenay Savings Credit Union
The event will also include a networking session to encourage informal discussion among participants.
Organizers describe the event as an opportunity for people across sectors to connect and discuss the next steps for strengthening the region’s future.
