Kimberley is celebrating its 45th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run with a key change.
The Nordic Club is sponsoring a three- to six-kilometre loop at the Nordic Centre for participants to run, walk or bike this year, which means the paths will be wider and more accessible.
“In the past, it’s been at the Centennial Hall and running through the streets of Kimberley,” said Rita Pak with the Kimberley Terry Fox Run. “I think with the new change, perhaps it will be something that the community will embrace.”
The group has raised $2,265 of its $3,000 goal at the time of writing.
Anyone interested in joining can register online or at the Nordic Centre at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 14.
Organizers are also seeking additional race-day volunteers to assist with setup, takedown, registration, and other tasks. To sign up, you can contact kimberleyterryfox@gmail.com.
Cranbrook residents are invited to participate as there is no local Terry Fox Run this year.
