Filling up your gas tank on Tuesday, September 16th could go toward more than just your vehicle.
As part of Fuel Good Day, the Regional Co-op gas bar in Cranbrook will reportedly donate 10 cents from every litre of fuel sold to the Cranbrook Boys & Girls Club (BGC).
The one-day fundraiser is part of a region-wide effort by the Regional Co-operative to support local charities.
According to the BGC website, BGC Cranbrook is the largest provider of licensed child care, after-school care, and youth programming in the city.
The organization reportedly serves more than 100 children and youth each weekday and is the only non-profit in Cranbrook offering services from birth to age 18.
Fuel Good Day is also taking place at Armstrong Regional Co-op gas bars in Armstrong, Salmon Arm, and Vernon, with each location supporting a different local organization:
-
In Armstrong, proceeds will go to the North Okanagan Minor Hockey Association
-
In Salmon Arm, to the Salmon Arm Legion
-
In Vernon, to Cops for Kids
Representatives from each organization are expected to be on site during the event to share information and speak with visitors.
“Fuel Good Day is one of many ways we fuel our communities, whether it’s by sharing profits with our members or supporting local organizations that are doing important work right here in our own backyard,” said Jason Keis, Marketing & Community Relations Manager with the Armstrong Regional Co-operative.
Since its launch in 2017, Fuel Good Day has reportedly raised more than $3 million for over 700 local organizations across Western Canada.
In Cranbrook, the participating gas bar is located at 1216 Cranbrook Street North.
